Overview

For 10 days this February our church will take part in a 10-day fast, inspired by the first chapter of the Book of Daniel.

Fasting is a spiritual discipline designed to better connect us with God.  For 10 days, from Thursday, February 16th at 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 26th, we will take this time to focus on deepening our relationship with God and centering ourselves around what God is going to do in our church and in our lives during this series.  Pastor Stokes will be preaching throughout February and March from the Book of Daniel and on the Sunday included in the fast, the 19th, our Café will feature ONLY Daniel fast friendly items.

Who?

The entire Fair Oaks Church staff will be participating in the fast and we are asking the rest of our congregation to join us as we seek God during this exciting season.

When:
Thursday, February 16th at 12:00 a.m. – Start the Fast

Sunday, February 26th at 12:00 a.m. – Break the Fast

Please Note: On Sunday, February 19th, the Fair Oaks Café will offer ONLY Daniel Fast friendly items (oatmeal, fruit, nuts, etc., )

What:
The Daniel Fast is a partial fast, which means that we will eliminate some common things from our daily diet, but will have generous options available. We will focus on eating fruits and vegetables that are pure and simple. We have included a list of foods to eat and foods to avoid.

*If you have any known medical conditions or suspect such conditions, consult your doctor before beginning the fast.

How:
There are multiple online resources available on the Daniel Fast. One thing you’ll notice is that there are many ways to do the fast. This is, in part, due to the lack of clarity in the bible as to exactly what Daniel did during his fast. However, to keep it simple, we have included on this site what the staff of Fair Oaks Church will be doing during the fast and some of the resources we will be using. This fast will require preparation as most meals will be made from scratch.
